Kelli Skoog, MA, LMFT

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I focus on creating a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where we can explore the issues you want to work on together. I strongly believe in the healing that can come through a trusting, therapeutic relationship. I have experience working with issues related to trauma, religious harm, spiritual/faith transitions, shame, depression, anxiety, life transitions, family and relationship conflicts, surviving childhood sexual abuse, and self-discovery, among others. I am passionate about working with adults on women’s issues, faith deconstruction/reconstruction, as well as working with couples.

I come to this work with a rich background of life experience and professional training. I have been married for more than 40 years and have raised 2 adult children. Personally, I have benefited from the life-changing process of psychotherapy - working hard over my lifetime to heal from the effects of parental alcoholism, trauma, shame, and my own faith deconstruction. I have gained wisdom from life experiences - both successes and failures - all of which have proven to be helpful resources as I meet with people in the context of therapy. I am also committed to doing the ongoing personal work of dismantling unconscious/conscious biases towards race, body image, sex, gender, and spirituality, and being an ally for the BIPoC and LBGTQIA+ communities.

Over the past eight years as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings including a local group practice, with Minneapolis Public School District, and in addiction treatment. I use an integrated approach to therapy, utilizing an array of therapeutic modalities, which are body based, depth-oriented, and person centered. I am certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which uses bilateral stimulation to help clients heal from trauma and other chronic conditions. In working with clients, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and Somatic Experiencing (SE). Additionally, through extensive training in Discernment Counseling I am able to support couples in determining needs and next steps for their relationship.

In my free time, I enjoy gardening, decorating, exercising, loving on my pets, and traveling to the ocean when I can. As an extrovert, I especially enjoy rich conversations and laughing with friends and family.

It would be my honor to join you on your journey towards healing and growth.
